Albums for Scrapbooking
Albums for scrapbooking is information on how to choose the right scrapbook for you. When thinking on what albums might appeal for yourself or for others, imagination is the limit. Six basic types of albums are called half-pint, mini, post-bound, spiral-bound, strap-hinge and three-ring.
A half-pint album, often found as a three-ring binder format, may hold about an 8.5" x 5.5" page. A mini is a small album that can either be given as a gift or made part of a larger project. You can get it pre-made in the stores or make it yourself using cardstock, tags, chipboard and various other elements.
Half-pints and mini's are popular albums for scrapbooking because they are smaller than the average scrapbook. Such a project only takes an evening to complete, which is particularly important in the time-conscious society we have today.

When looking for a more traditional album, one popular type is the post-bound scrapbook. I have had several of these because of the fact you can add extra pages. These albums usually have two or three metal posts that hold top-loading page protectors. Post extenders are used to expand the album so as to add more pages. The three-ring binder has become a part of the albums for scrapbooking used today. These albums feature three round or "D" shaped rings that hold top-loading page protectors. Pages are easy to add or remove. A wide gutter exists between facing pages. * Note on the Pioneer Jumbo Magnetic Post-bound album: My first experience in the Post-bound album world was with Pioneer's Jumbo-Magnetic album. Some people disdain using this particular brand because of experiencing browning of edges over time. That, so far, has not been an issue in my experience with it. But, I have since moved on to other styles. Each album type has it's pros and cons. Awareness is key as to what to expect in the materials worked in the project. Presently, Pioneer Photo Albums have come up with a new set of albums for scrapbooking. The albums are in the style of the three-ring binder, with a 12" x 12" fabric cover and frame. The style comes in deep black, apple red, cobalt blue, and chocolate brown. Pages are not included. Refill types of the same brand accepted are RMW-5, RMB-5, and 47-RMW. I recently ordered such an album online in which I keep my scrapbook pages. I love it because I can rearrange everything anyway I want without hassle. I also purchased the We R Memory Keepers 12 x 12 3 hole refills as they are considered more sturdy and best material than others. The spiral-bound and strap-hinge albums are less forgiving for easy page removal. With these albums, one must plan ahead the number of pages needed or desired, whether purchased or hand-made. Still, these albums offer a unique style adding to the overall effect of your scrapbook. The spiral-bound album is as it sounds, being held together by a metal or plastic coil. It uses side-loading page protectors. The strap-hinge is an album with pages (used as a layout background, or covered with other paper) held together by a plastic strap. This album also requires the use of side-loading page protectors. These are the basic choices in albums for scrapbooking.
