Christian Independence

Ever wonder what the part of a Christian is in regard to their government? What is our attitude to be toward different authorities?

Titus 3:1-2 states "Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed; to malign no one, to be uncontentious, gentle, showing every consideration for all men." Much in the scriptures say that the Christian should be wise as a serpent, yet gentle as a dove.

Politics in particular can become very heated and words start to fly. This is called mud-slinging. But if an individual is a believer, they must refrain from mud-slinging and any other kind of maligning of others.

Whether you are dealing with your boss or running for an election, it is our responsibility to have regard for our rulers, or those in authority over us. I titled this piece Christian Independence because as American Christians in particular we are blessed with opportunity, thus far, to share with others the difference the gospel has made in our lives. Will that freedom or independence as we know it go on forever? No. But while we have the freedom to do so, practice our faith and speak out in a manner led by the Holy Spirit that honors our Father in heaven.

Materials that went into this page are papers in green camaflouge and beige, sticklers glue, elmers glue stick, photo, and glitters by Martha Stewart.
