Metal Accents

Metal accents or metallics, are those metal objects that may have been a necklace, parts of a watch, a ring, a pin and so on that can now accent the scrapbook page in one fashion or another today. This element can take the form of papers, freeform wire titles and embellishments, paper clips, eyelets, brads, and jewelry as well as metallic leafing products for dressing up a layout.

Silver, usually a southwestern accent, is the common metallic, but other elements such as copper accents, gold, and bronze are becoming more available as well as the adhesives for making them stick.

Metallics are eye-catching for their dimension, weight, and slick surfaces. This very reason causes trouble when it comes to figuring out how to apply them to your chosen surface.

But, there is one technique you can use to affix plaques, tiles, dog tags, and more onto your layouts securely and easily.

Step One: Place the accent face down on a flat surface.

Step Two: Dab the back with metal glue or apply several adhesive dots. For larger items, use metal glue or double-stick tape. Use dimensional foam tape for added height.

Step Three: Flip over and press gently onto background. If using metal glue, hold firmly for a few seconds to set.

Yes! Paste is a glue that I use that covers a number of elements including metal.
