Microbeads
Microbeads are those tiny things that add sparkle, color and texture to your art; add magic to your scrapbooking page. This type of beading certainly makes an interesting scrapbooking embellishment. But what are they? When we think of beads, maybe thoughts of the weighted stuffed animals come to mind, tiny glass marbles or glitter or translucent beads. These beads are like the seeds of flowers decorating each years New Years Rose Parade floats. Think of the glitter on a birthday card. Picture a pink rose with fairies all around it, their wings glistening.

Beading comes in many sizes and types. There is the opaque beads (glass beads without a hole, 5 mm size), mini-micro are .35 mm size, very fine is slightly larger than the size of a grain of sugar. Both the mini micro and very fine beads are great for images with a finer detail and smoother finish. How far does a little bit go? According to various merchants in this area of expertise, an ounce of micro beads will fully cover a 6 by 8 inch sheet of sticky tape. A 5 oz bag of beads, when doing beaded pens, should cover 25 pens per bag. Here is how to attach these art beads: Step One: Completely coat the top of your accent with adhesive. An adhesive sheet, spray or double-stick tape work well. To stick beads to small portions of your accent, cover that area with liquid glue and allow it to dry until tacky. Step Two: Place the accent into a shallow pan or box frame. Step Three: Pour micro beads over the accent. To cover completely, turn it face down into the pan of overflowing micro beads. To seal the beads, cover the accent with a clear-drying glaze.
